Working it out.

I usually don't blog with lots of company, but I'm sitting here in my room, the kids on my bed, and my husband is trying to hook up one of his OLD SCHOOL Nintendos. My kids love it. I'm alive, I'm kicking, we're making the transition into a new schedule.

I've got some comments which have kind of puzzled me. Not blogging comments, but from friends or family. Ones that go a little like this: "I'm so glad you found work outside of the house. You must feel so much more fulfilled as a woman". You think? 'Cause I think not. This is a job. It's work. It's pooh. It's not fulfilling some "deep need" that I have as a woman. I HAVE my dream job. I'm a Mom. This is a little some thing on the side as a safety net. I can't say I enjoy it a whole lot, but the extra cash is good for my crew. The kids don't seem to mind, and I fully plan to keep my day job.... my day/afternoon/night gig as a mom. THAT is what I truly love. THAT is what fulfills me.

This is my bedroom slash office. This is where I blog, email, pay bills, plan our budget. This is where I work. I like my bedroom. It's simple and peaceful. I just happened to be spring cleaning this room when I got offered this little job. Yes. Still spring cleaning. Oh brother. That's all I have to say.

This is one of my best friends. She just turned 43, and we had a little par-tay at my house last week. We beat the living hell out of this pinata, and I insisted on taking a few gag pictures. This woman is a doll. She lives right across the street from me, and we adore each other. She adores my kids. We have each other's back. She rocks.

My night shift is starting. It's Olivia's bed time. Kill me now. Ok, it's not that bad. We've made excellent head way as of late. Nothing like being a little dramatic.

Go Misty! I so agree that being a mom is the best job in the whole world and nothing can beat that! You're an amazing mom! Nice cleaning...can I hire you to make my room look like that? :) Have a great night!

hate those kind of comments. Everyone is different, and people shouldn't assume that just because they think a certain way that others will also.

I'm glad you're figuring it out. Love your bedroom. And love the fun pictures of your friend! :)

Hey thanks for your message, glad to hear your doing ok.

I totally understand where you are coming from with the "comments".

I have one for you - after I had my third child my mother in law came into hospital (like within hours of her being born), and asked me if I thought I would have another one - you know to try for the "boy thing". I was furious, I told her that we werent having any more that three was it, (because we were only planning on having two in the first place). Then I looked her straight in the eyes and said "I dont feel the need to reproduce another human being just because it might have a penis, I think there are enough of those on the planet now!!!!

She was shocked, but even with that reply, she still had the nerve to ask me that same question again and again and again.

I get this now more and more each day. The jobs, the things that bring in money . . . they are nothing compared to what I am, what I have, as J's mother. That is everything.

I've struggled with this before. But, then I woke up and saw that there really was no struggle. After finding my soul mate, J made my life complete. And that is all there is.

You so GET it. People go their entire lives not getting it . . . ever.

Being a mom is the most fulfilling thing I've ever done as well. I don't get people sometimes.

But, how did you get your job? That is exactly the type of thing I've been looking for. We could use some cash for some wiggle room.

Being a mom was all I ever wanted to do in life and I have to say that anything I ever did paled in comparison to that sacred calling I held and still hold. Once a mom always a mom. It drives me up the wall when people try to deamean it. It's the most honorable calling on earth!

♡ :) Your room is so clean I need to take notes! Tomorrow's chore is to pack my room and then maybe it'll be clean! :)

Can you come over and organize MY bedroom? Oh don't stop there! The rest of the house could use some work too....

Nothing fulfills me more than being a good Mommy. Work just doesn't do it for me. Oh well!

You are quite the organizational queen. Don't you want to come over and help me??

Amen sista! You *have* your dream job, and you're just phenomenal at what you do. Side money is great, but living your dream is the BEST.

Hey Misty, I've missed you in my time away. It feels good to be back. Hang in there. Being a mom is for sure the most rewarding job. But I am sure your family will appreciate you effort in making things better for them. You go girl!

You know, it's interesting. I've only been able to stay home for the last 3 years. I worked full-time for the 9 years pervious to our move to Idaho. (Husband was in chiropractic school, my job had great benefits and salary. And it worked for our family.)

I love being home with my boys. I don't want to go back to work outside my home again. However, I will admit that there are days when I miss the professional satisfaction of being good at something and being acknowledged for it! I also miss the social network that working brought me, although blogging has helped in some respect.

I love my therapist job. I love the clients I work with.

If the economy changes to a point where I we can live off of Mr's income, I'd quit my job in a second to be a stay at home mom again.

You know who is really in control of society and our future? MOMS!!! That's who. We need more of them like you Misty. And Mandi (Loved her comment). and ALL the other moms out there who do the day-to-day, much under appreciated job because we love it.

Can you come clean my house and my room - you are so organized!!!

Thanks for posting this, as its something I think of quite often. I am getting a lot of questions as to what I will do next year when Matt goes to school. Ugh!!!

Gosh! It has been awhile. I had to catch up. I've been going through some really challenging times and I have had NO desire to blog. It sucks.

Anyhow, I agree that Mom is the best job ever! But...your new job, once the kinks are worked out, should be awesome for both you and your budget.

I love you simple bedroom. My house is fairly clutter-free...except for my bedroom. That is where all the clutter and stuff to be done collects. Ugh!
