SPRING Break, BABY!

As a child I HATED when ever school was out. I hated being home, knowing that I would be shut in my bedroom the entire time. My parents didn't let us play outside. We couldn't watch tv, watch movies, listen to music, talk on the phone, have friends over, we had little or no toys. We hated school vacations and we hated when school ended for the year. Thankfully we were shipped off to camp summers, which we loved. It was such a blessing, to say the least, to be able to escape.

Now, my kids..... my kids BEG to stay home. From time to time I let them skip school, but this week is SPRING break. A whole stinkin week that we get to P-A-R-T-Y. We stay up late. We play, we giggle, we have fun, we watch movies, we snuggle, and bake, and play out side for hours.
Today is supposed to be EIGHTY degrees, baby! We are breaking out the sprinklers and we are going to have a blast.

Friday it was chilly and windy, so we did some thing I can't re-call that I have ever experienced. We FLEW kites. I should correct myself - Hannah and Ian flew kites, I had no idea what I was doing, but we managed. Below are some pictures and a short clip of our mini-adventure. I love nothing more then being able to be a big kid with my own "little-kid" children. I claim back, each time, a little some thing that I lost during my own forsaken childhood.

I edited this video so that it would be facing correctly, but it didn't work. Tilt your head, maybe? Crap. And I still have a cough.... not asthma.... although by my breathing one might wonder....

♥ How much fun! Emma love flying kites. We don't do it very often either... Yay for no powerlines! We still have some around our area so it makes it hard to fly them close to home.

I love your spring break tradition of just having a good time!

The great thing about having kids is that you do get to have a childhood when you play with your kids and watch them experience childhood. People just see that you are good mom, they don't realize that you're being your own mom.

Have a fun spring break

How great!!! I am happy for you. AS I said in an earlier post I think, when you have children after a childhood like you've had, you GET TO RE-PARENT YOURSELF while you are parenting your children and it is so healing! So DO WHATEVER you would have wanted to do as a kid. Write on the mirror with lipstick, jump on the beds, fly kites, bake cookies and cuddle! It's great therapy for EVERYONE!!!

Hasn't the weather been awesome! We took advantage all weekend long. We tried to fly kites but the wind wasn't helping us much. I am glad to see you all had much better luck. Those smiles show that it was sooo worth it.

Flying kites is sooo much fun and it looks like your kids (and you too!) had a great time with it! How fun!

The weather here has been awesome. Take advantage of it and have a great spring break with your little treasures.

I LOVE LOVE the pictures of your flower babies. Beautiful. You are one good little photographer.

Misty, I would love to have your address for my blogger friends collection. I totally understand if you would rather not, but if so, please e-mail me the info at chasins4@yahoo.com. I just like to send out cards and stuff from time to time.

Look at how HAPPY they are. Ian's grin is amazing.

I love what you said about taking back YOUR childhood, while building great memories for your own kiddos.

Have fun in the sprinklers!

Yay for spring break! It's warm here too, no jackets and I am even wearing capri's.

Spring does wonders for the soul doesn't it?

My kids love kites. I need to pick up a couple. You are such a great mom. You make life fun for your kids and that is so important. I need to be better about doing things like that.

Why the heck was our spring break last month??? Man, I wish we had weather like this during ours!!!!

The kite pics are adorable. I can never get them to fly either. That's Jon's job. I watch.

I can just hear that song from Mary Poppins playing in my head:

With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

When you send it flyin' up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over 'ouses and trees
With your first 'olding tight
To the string of your kite.

Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

Your kids sure are lucky to have you as their mom. We got ripped off this year. Our spring break was the Friday before Easter. Boo hoo

There just aren't enough good kite flying days. Love the pics and the smiles. Way to go!
